Cottonwood Recreation Area

Located along the Milk River 19 miles north of Malta, Montana, the Cottonwood Recreation Area offers a shaded setting for relaxing outdoor recreation.  This is a popular camping spot for river fishermen, big game hunters, and upland bird hunters. Activities: Camping, fishing, picnicking, birding and photography Facilities/Services:  Restroom, tables and fire-rings, fishing access Location/Access: From Malta, drive north on Hwy 191 for 18 miles and turn east on the Milk River Road.  Drive another mile and turn south toward the Milk River.  A cattle exclosure fence surrounds the recreation area. Lat/Long: 48°35’9” -107°43’25” Fees: No fees, no reservations Season/Hours:  Open year-round. Maps: The site is on the BLM Whitewater 1:100,000 topographic map at Township 33N, Range 31E, section 30.  The site is not labeled on the map.
