Upper Madison River Sites

The Ruby Creek and Palisades Recreation Areas are two separate day-use areas and campgrounds about five river miles apart on the Upper Madison River. Ruby Creek has 22 camping units and Palisades has seven units. A separate boat launch and parking area is located near each of the campgrounds. Activities: Fishing, floating, sightseeing, camping. Facilities: Restrooms, boat ramps, campsites, drinking water. Location/Access: Located about 25 miles south of Ennis, off US Highway 287. Fees: $8/night per vehicle, $5 per additional vehicle. No fees for boat launches or day use. Season/Hours: Fees are collected from May 1 through December 1. Maps: East half of the Interagency Visitor Travel Map.
