White Sandy Recreation Site

Montana BLM’s newest recreation facility, White Sandy, opened for public enjoyment on May 25, 2007, with 32 campsites and a large day use area. It is located on Hauser Lake approximately 15 miles northeast of Helena and directly south of Black Sandy Campground which is managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
 
Activities: Camping, fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking and hiking.
 
Facilities/Services: Individual and group camping sites with tables and grills, asphalt roadways, concrete boat ramp with courtesy dock, large day-use parking lot, fish cleaning station, swimming area, picnic shelters, restrooms, drinking water, garbage collection and accessible parking spots and trails.
 
Location/Access: From Interstate 15 about seven miles north of Helena, take the Lincoln Road Exit and travel east until you reach a “T” in the road, turn left onto Hauser Dam Road (gravel) and drive north until you reach the turn off for White Sandy Recreation Site.
 
Fees: Day use: $5 per vehicle.  Camping: $15 per night.  Group reservation fee--$50, plus $15/unit/night camping fee. 
 
Season/Hours: Services provided mid-May through September.
