Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey NCA

Cove Recreation Site at CJ Strike Reservoir

Experience the magnificence of the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area from the waters and shorelines of the Cove Recreation Site, a popular place to fish, hike, view wildlife, boat (motorized and non-motorized), waterski, swim and picnic. Day-use and overnight camping facilities are found on the south shore of C.J. Strike Reservoir, about one mile east of the dam.  Fees are charged for day and overnight use, payable at self-service stations near the entrance to the campground and at the end of Buford Road (map).

CJ Strike's 7,500-acre reservoir area impounds the Snake and Bruneau Rivers and offers fishing, boating and camping, with camp units, restrooms and potable water.  The site is the beginning of a day of hiking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking, swimming, water skiing, and wildlife viewing. CJ Strike Reservoir is one of the area's major destinations for fishermen seeking sturgeon, yellow perch, crappie, small- and large-mouth bass, rainbow trout, bluegill and catfish.
