East Fork Recreation Site

NEW! East Fork Campground to be closed March 15 - November to protect public safety during project construction

Nestled between the main Salmon River and the mouth of the East Fork of the Salmon River, the site encompasses a 20-mile segment of the East Fork Salmon River that is eligible for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic River System. The site is popular during the summer months and offers diverse recreational opportunities such as fishing, hunting, camping, nature viewing and hiking along four nearby trailheads (Sheep Creek, Jimmy Smith Lake Trailhead, Herd Creek and Little Boulder Creek Trailhead).

Location: Approximately 19 miles southwest of Challis, Idaho and 4 miles north of Clayton, Idaho. Travel south from Challis on Highway 93 for 2 miles, turn right on Highway 75 and drive southwest approximately 17 miles.  The site will be on your right at the confluence of the East Fork and main Salmon Rivers.
