Multiple-Use Mission

Our multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

In support of the mission, our employees - over 9,000 nationwide - are responsible for Resource Protection, Resource Use, Recreation, and Serving the Community on approximately 260 million acres of public land and 700 million acres of Federal subsurface mineral estate.
