Lower Salmon River - Before Your Trip

Permits

Permits are required for all trips on the Lower Salmon River below Hammer Creek. You can get a self-issue permit at Hammer Creek, Graves Creek or the BLM office in Cottonwood. This permit also authorizes use of the Snake River in Hell's Canyon below the mouth of the Salmon.

Please note that the requirements on the Snake may differ from those on the Lower Salmon. Different regulations will be posted at launch sites or will be printed on the self-issue permit.
