Sub-regional Sage-grouse Planning
Land-Use Plan Revision
Based on ongoing threats to the Greater Sage-Grouse and its habitat throughout the West, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s schedule for making a decision whether to list the species under the Endangered Species Act, the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service have begun to revise land-use plans (LUPs) for lands that include sage-grouse habitat to incorporate consistent objectives and conservation measures into all relevant plans by September 2014.
Public comments help identify issues that should be addressed in the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) that will analyze the LUP revisions.
A 90 day comment period opened November 1, 2013, when the Draft EIS was released for public review. The public comment period ended January 29, 2014. Due to the restricted time schedule of this planning effort, the BLM cannot accept comments submitted after the January 29 deadline.
The BLM and Forest Service are currently working with our cooperating agencies to develop the Final Environmental Impact Statement and subsequent Land Use Plan Amendments. The document will be released for public review in late summer/early fall of 2014.
Please submit your comments or questions to firstname.lastname@example.org .
