Owyhee RMP Amendment | Owyhee Land Exchange

The BLM is proposing to amend the resource management plan (RMP) for the Owyhee Field Office to change the land-tenure classification of 560 acres of public land.

The change would allow this parcel to be considered in a proposed land exchange with the State of Idaho.  The exchange - known as the Owyhee Land Exchange - is intended to fulfill a primary purpose of the 2009 Omnibus Public Lands Management Act (OPLMA), which designated the Owyhee Canyonlands wilderness areas and wild and scenic river (WSR) corridors, by reducing conflicts in land uses and management which result when non-Federal parcels remain as inholdings in Wilderness areas and WSR corridors.

The BLM will prepare an environmental assessment
(EA) of the proposed RMP amendment.
