EIS | Husky 1 - North Dry Ridge Mine

Proponent Agrium has submitted an application to develop their existing lease on Dry Ridge - 19 miles northeast of Soda Springs, Idaho - using open-pit methods.  Operations would impact 1,051 acres over 13 years, primarily on National Forest Lands, both north and south of old phosphate operations at the now-inactive North and South Maybe mines, which are owned by Agrium subsidiary NuWest Industries.

Agrium is proposing to address come of the contamination being released from the Maybe mines as part of the Husky-Dry Ridge mine plan.  Other issues being analyzed in the project EIS are surface and groundwater quality, proposed mining activity in a National Forest roadless area and public travel access in the project area.
