|||||||||||
|
SALMON, ID: The Idaho Falls District, Salmon Field Office will be conducting prescribed burn activities in White Creek/Agency Creek during mid- to late September and possibly into October, depending on weather conditions. The primary goal of this prescribed burn is to reduce hazardous fuel and reintroduce fire in to the ecosystem. Visitors to the area will see increased traffic and dust due to vehicles traveling on the Agency Creek road to and from the White Creek Prescribed Burn Unit. There will also be a helicopter flying the Agency Creek and White Creek area and landing in close proximity to the Agency Creek road. For more information on this project, please contact Jim Tucker at 208-756-5490.

The BLM manages more land - over 245 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
