BLM Plans Temporary Closures at Area Recreation Sites
Maintenance Scheduled before Memorial Day Weekend

COEUR D'ALENE, ID - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has scheduled routine maintenance at several area recreation sites starting in mid-May.  The following recreation sites near Lake Coeur d’Alene will be closed while the paved parking areas are seal coated and repainted:   Killarney Lake Boat Launch, Mineral Ridge Boat Launch, Mineral Ridge Scenic Area (Trailhead) and the Beauty Bay picnic area.

Work will be completed on weekdays between May 12 and 22, weather permitting.  Each site will be cordoned off and clearly posted with signs when slurry seal coat and the new pavement markings are being applied.  Each site will close for two days to allow adequate application and curing time.

A detailed schedule of the closures will be available May 12 and will be posted on the web at: http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/fo/coeur_d_alene.html and will be available at the BLM Coeur d’Alene Office located at 3815 Schreiber Way in Coeur d’Alene.

According to Eric Thomson, BLM Field Manager, “These sites need to be seal coated about every five years to protect pavement surfaces and reduce long-term maintenance costs.  We’re working to complete all the maintenance at these sites before the heavy use season begins on Memorial Day weekend.   We appreciate the public’s patience while this work is completed.”
