See Activity/Hike Schedule

BOISE, ID – With the annual return of more than 800 pairs of eagles, falcons, hawks and owls to their nesting sites in the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is again offering its annual Spring Activities series.

The Spring Activities series begins Saturday, April 26 and continues through Monday, June 23.  Each activity explores a different aspect of the area’s fascinating wildlife and cultural history in this unique canyon environment that supports one of the world's densest concentrations of nesting birds of prey.  The public is encouraged to register early, as the activities fill up quickly.

This year, a cultural history hike is being offered of Halverson Bar on Saturday, April 26 and of Wees Bar on Saturday, May 3, both in the Snake River Canyon.  An all-day owl banding trip will take place on Thursday, May 1 and a hawk banding trip on Saturday, June 7 and 14 and Monday, June 23, each limited to eight people.  A raptor identification lecture will held the evening of Friday, May 9, followed on Saturday, May 10 by an all-day raptor identification field trip.

All activities will be led by BLM staff members, who are specialists in the natural history of the National Conservation Area and southwestern Idaho. The activities are offered free of charge.   Advanced registration is required. See Activity/Hike Schedule.

To register, call Barb Forderhase in Boise at (208) 384-3485.
