BLM Hosts Data Fair -- Public Input Needed

TWIN FALLS, ID -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Jarbidge Field Office will host a data fair January 31, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Herrett Center on the College of Southern Idaho campus. This informal and interactive open house is taking place as part of the Jarbidge Resource Management Planning (RMP) process, and will serve to give the public an opportunity to review planning materials and speak to resource specialists.

If members of the public have new or additional information they would like BLM staff to consider during the planning process, they are encouraged to bring copies of this information to the Data Fair. “We really appreciate the people who have already brought maps, data, and information for us to analyze.  We also look forward to sharing the information we have collected for the RMP with the public at the Data Fair,” said Aimee Betts, RMP Project Manager.

Data Fair displays will include maps, scientific literature, and data collected over the past year including summaries of the Ecological Site Inventory, a current vegetation map, road inventories, and results of wildlife population and habitat studies.

BLM staff will provide maps for attendees to indicate special areas for recreation, wildlife, or other resources and uses. BLM will also accept data and information prior to the event for those unable to attend. For further information, please contact Aimee Betts, RMP Project Manager at (208) 736-2388 or visit the Jarbidge RMP website at www.blm.gov/rmp/id/jarbidge.
