BLM Boise District Manager Jim Fincher asked RAC Chairman Gene Gray to establish the subcommittee to examine options for resolving siting issues associated with segments 8 and 9 of the transmission line.
Fincher requested consideration of any new information or modifications to the alternatives analyzed in the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the project and in the companies’ proposal for enhancements to resources in the BLM Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA) as the basis for building consensus regarding remaining issues identified in the record of decision (ROD) for the segments 1-7 and 10 of the Gateway West project.
The subcommittee will identify recommendations for consideration by the full RAC. Fincher has asked the subcommittee to finish its work by February 28, 2014.
The subcommittee held its initial meeting in Boise on December 5, 2013. Three additional meetings are scheduled for December 17, 2013, and January 7 and 16, 2014, at the BLM Boise District Offices. All subcommittee meetings are open to the public and will include time for those in attendance to present comments in written or oral form.
