Sand Mountain

General Location: About 10 miles west of St. Anthony, Idaho

Natural Features: This WSA is part of a large sand dune complex that receives over 220,000 visits a year. Since becoming a WSA, recreation use has increased over 1000%, mainly in the form of motorized recreation. The majority of recreation use occurs in the over 10,000 acres of open sand within the WSA boundary. A portion of the WSA is within the Nine-Mile Knoll Area of Critical and Environmental Concern (ACEC) and the St. Anthony Sand Dunes Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA).
