Henrys Lake

Henrys Lake lies high in a mountain bowl (elev. 6,470 feet) 15 miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.  With a backdrop of Sawtel Peak, the shallow lake is known for its trout fishery.  The Henry's Fork of the Snake River originates here, just below the Continental Divide between Idaho and Montana.    

The Henrys Lake Area of Critical Environmental Concern and Wilderness Study Area help protect wildlife habitat and other resource values.

Location: 60 miles northeast of Rexburg, Idaho; 15 miles west of West Yellowstone, Montana

Facilities: none on BLM-administered lands

Fees: BOATERS - Under the Idaho Invasive Species Law and Boater Registration requirements, any boat registered in Idaho or another State, and any non-motorized vessel (canoe, kayak, raft, drift boat, etc.) is required to purchase and display IISF stickers in order to legally launch and operate in Idaho.  Inflatable, non-motorized vessels less than 10 feet in length are exempt from this requirement.
