Proposed Victor Fuels Project: The BLM's Upper Snake Field Office is proposing a fuels project to improve forest health and reduce the risk of wildfire to people and property on BLM-administered lands and adjacent private properties. By utilizing mechanical / manual treatments and prescribed burning, the proposal would reduce surface fuel loading and ladder fuels, conifer canopy densities, and conifer encroachment into historical aspen groves within the forest on the BLM-administered lands. Reducing the heavy amount of vegetation and creating open space will improve wildlife habitat and allow for more natural, low-severity fires. The proposed project consists of seven parcels of approximately 7,390 acres of BLM-administered land located within the two Teton Counties of Idaho and Wyoming, adjacent to the Targhee National Forest and private lands.
