Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve Travel Management

You are invited...
to help shape the future of travel in the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve (Monument).

Presidential Proclamation 7373 which expanded the Monument in November 2000 directed the BLM and National Park Service to develop a travel plan following completion of a joint management plan for the Monument. The Record of Decision for the approved management plan was signed in September 2006. The next step will focus on identifying the types of use and seasons of use appropriate on roads, primitive roads, and trails within this desert environment.

On this site, you will find information about the decisions made in the travel planning process. Maps and comment forms are available, as well as dates of public meetings. You may also add your name to our mailing list to receive future information about the travel management effort.
