You are invited...
to help shape the future of travel within the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve (Monument)!
Presidential Proclamation 7373 which expanded the Monument in November 2000 directed the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service to develop a travel plan following completion of a joint management plan for the Monument. The Record of Decision for the approved plan was signed in September 2006. The next step will focus on identifying the types of use and seasons of use appropriate on roads, primitive roads, and trails within this desert environment. On this site, you will find information about the decisions that will be made in the travel planning process. Maps and comment forms are available here, as well as dates of public meetings scheduled in October. You may also ask to be added to our mailing list to receive future information about the travel management effort.
We value the knowledge and concerns of those who study, live, work and recreate at this special place. Please share your thoughts and ideas with us.
Thank you for visiting our site--we look forward to hearing from you!
