BLM Recognized as Employer of the Year: In October, the BLM Salmon Field Office was selected as the 2011 Development Workshop Inc.’s Salmon “Employer of the Year.” This award recognized the BLM’s outstanding support in providing employment for individuals with disabilities. The field office hires individuals from Salmon River Industries, a supplementary organization of the Development Workshop, Inc., to clean BLM facilities and pick up recyclable materials. Employees report to the office five nights a week and staff always look forward to their arrival. “They are wonderful individuals and do a fantastic job for us,” said Sharon Nagle, purchasing agent for the BLM. “Not only do they brighten our day with their positive attitudes, but they are concurrently building life skills and enhancing their self-esteem in the process.”
