BotanySpecial Status Plants | Watch List PlantsSeven sensitive plant species are known to occur in a variety of vegetation communities across the Pocatello Field Office region. In addition, seven “watch” species are documented and four sensitive species are suspected to occur in the area. These plants, their status and a general description of their habitat types are listed. Sensitive Species are plants that may be globally or locally rare and somewhat endangered within their range. It is BLM policy to manage Sensitive Species as though they were Threatened or Endangered, in an effort to prevent them from becoming listed species in the future. Each proposed project within the Field Office is evaluated for potential effects to Sensitive Species. Watch Species are plants that current information suggests may warrant concern, but there is not enough information for classification as Sensitive. The BLM uses the term "Special Status Plants" to include:
