Owyhee River Canyon WSA

General Location: 90 miles southwest of Boise, Idaho.

Natural Features: Deep canyons, scenic plateaus and a plethora of wildlife including bighorn sheep, mule deer, bobcat, and waterfowl define this area of solitude.

Total Acres: 225,680

Acres Supported by BLM for Wilderness Designation: Idaho: 35,620; Oregon: 152,040; Total: 187,660

Rationale for BLM’s Recommendation: This site will enhance the National Wilderness Preservation System through its natural beauty shown in its deep canyons and plateaus.
