Lookout Butte WSA

General Location: Southeast corner of Malheur County, Oregon and southwest corner of Owyhee County, Idaho; about 50 miles south of Jordan Valley, Oregon and 25 miles east of McDermitt, Nevada.

Natural Features: Lookout Butte is a gently sloping area more than two miles long and one mile wide and contains vegetation such as sagebrush, grasses and herbaceous perennials.

Total Acres: Idaho: 34,400; Oregon: 65,200; Total: 99,600

Acres Supported by BLM for Wilderness Designation: -0-

Rationale for BLM’s Recommendation: Level of naturalness does not merit inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System.
