Jump Creek Hike
These scenic hikes meander through an area by the canyon and under large boulders and offer desert scenery at its finest with wildflowers in the spring, sagebrush growing on the hillsides, and lush green growth found along the creek. A variety of wildlife including cliff swallows, hawks, lizards, snakes and occasional deer call this area home. The Jump Creek Falls originates from a number of springs in the upper canyon and cascades over a series of falls hidden beneath the riparian forest canopy.
Hikers can choose from three different hikes at Jump Creek:
- Jump Creek Falls Trail: Easy 0.2-mile hike to the base of the falls, which runs alongside and eventually crosses the creek.
- Falls Creek Overlook: 0.1-mile hike to a spectacular view of Jump Creek Falls and surrounding canyons; access is at the upper trailhead parking lot.
- West Rimrock Trail: A steep 0.2 mile hike leads to the plateau between Jump Creek and Poison Creek Canyons; trail access is at the upper trailhead parking area.
