Toana Freight Wagon Road District

The Toana Road was used in the early 1870s to haul freight through arid rangeland from Nevada to the Idaho mining camps and then on to Boise.  The road parallels Salmon Falls Creek through Elmore and Owyhee Counties until it connects to the Oregon Trail south of Bliss.  Visitors can still glimpse wagon ruts in many sections of the road.
