Hazardous fuels build-up in the Elk City vicinity
Recovery Funding Awarded for Hazardous Fuels Reduction:
The BLM has awarded an Assistance Agreement under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to Framing Our Community for the Elk City Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project, located in the Sweeny Hill area of Elk City Township in Idaho County.  Multiple operations will reduce hazardous fuels, improve forest vigor and generate jobs for the local economy.  Local businesses will use some of the material removed.  Other biomass will be set aside as feed stock for the proposed Elk City Cogeneration Plant set to be operational in late 2010.

Please Note:  Check the Salmon River Road construction website for schedule updates and closure information.
