In the Spotlight

Comment on Mine Plan of Operations through July 13:  The Bear Lake Mining Company, LLC has filed a Plan of Operations for a proposed project on land east of Riggins, ID and adjacent to the Marshall Mountain WSA.  The Plan outlines various operations involved with gathering 150-200 tons of sample material from an existing mine adit.  Public comments will be accepted through July 13.  A copy of the Plan is available from the BLM Cottonwood Field Office and online:  Bear Lake Mining Plan of Operations | Bear Lake Mining Plan of Operations Maps 1-3

TOUR the Archaeological Field School at Cooper's Ferry site:  An eight-week field school, funded through a BLM Challenge Cost Share agreement, allows students from Oregon State University and other universities to excavate an archaeological site and gather data about how people lived in the area thousands of years ago.
