Scenic driving/wildlife viewing

An abundance of wildlife can be seen while visiting this vast, scenic area. Listed below are a few interesting areas to explore.

Lake Coeur d’ Alene Scenic Byway: This beautiful byway takes you through the scenic countryside of northern Idaho traveling past lakes, mountains and wildlife. This byway begins at the junction of Interstate 90 and Idaho 97 and follows Idaho 97 south and east along Lake Coeur d’Alene.

White Pine Scenic Byway: This byway begins near Idaho’s historic Cataldo Mission, the oldest building still standing in Idaho. It passes through the beautiful forests, intriguing marshlands and clear rivers of northern Idaho. The White Pine Scenic Byway begins at the junction of Interstate 90 and Idaho 3, and continues south on Idaho 3 to Idaho 6 and then southwest to U.S. 95 at Potlatch.

Mineral Ridge Scenic Area: This popular fishing access site is also a migration site for wintering bald eagles who visit the region to feed on spawning kokanee salmon.
