Description: The Mineral Ridge Scenic Area has a paved parking area that serves as a trailhead and picnic area.  The pleasantly landscaped site includes turf areas, drinking water, two picnic shelters with tables, pit toilets, and trash receptacles.  Free trail brochures are available at the informational kiosk.  All trailhead facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities, with the exception of the upper picnic shelter.
 
The 3.3 mile trail was part of the first recreation site developed by the BLM in Idaho. Construction of the site began in 1963.  On April 13, 1982, the trail was designed as a National Recreation Trail. Mineral Ridge is a “classroom in the forest.”  The plant and animal communities are used by local school districts for environmental education. A Trail Guide (use links on the left) leads you along the trail providing you with narrative descriptions  of the forest plants, animals and interrelationships described on the 22 marked stations along the trail.  Visitors enjoy the invigorating hike and beautiful views.
