Mackay Mine Hill Tour

Mackay Mine Trail Flyer

The South Custer County Historical Society and White Knob Historical Preservation Committee put together an interpretive auto tour around the historic Mine Hill, just west of Mackay. This self-guided tour (with brochures available around Mackay) includes approximately 15 miles of trails accessible to all modes of transportation, 5.5 miles are advisable for high-clearance vehicles only and 4 more miles are open to ATVs, motorcycles and non-motorized uses.  Along the way, you can see historic mine buildings, the Shay Railroad Trestle, aerial tramway towers, historic cabins and more.
