The Big Lost River Range, the Salmon River and Mackay Reservoir are popular destinations for fishing enthusiasts. Anglers will find native fish species including trout, char and grayling, and alpine lakes and rivers are regularly stocked with non-native species such as brook trout, brown trout, golden trout, cutthroat trout and rainbow trout. The cold weather creates perfect conditions for ice fishing at Jimmy Smith and Mackay Reservoir. All fishermen should adhere to the designated fishing access points on private land and obtain a fishing license.
