Milner Historic Recreation Area

Regional Map | Site Map

The Milner Historic Recreation Area is a 2055-acre area adjacent to the Snake River, 9 miles west of Burley. Several recreation sites, developed and primitive, can be found along the more than four miles of shoreline. The area features basalt cliffs surrounded by a sage grassland. This is a year-round haven for songbirds and waterfowl, with excellent fishing for bass, channel catfish, yellow perch, and trout, and ice fishing most winters.

Over 100 years ago, emigrants on the Oregon Trail passed through here, and segments marked by deep ruts are still visible. Just north of the west entrance to Milner, there is an interpretive shelter and a hiking trail that leads to some of the ruts.

Location: 9 miles West of Burley, Idaho

Facilities/Fees:

  • Day use - $3/day
