The Idaho Regatta draws participants and spectators alike to Burley's Snake River waterfront every June. Boat racers from throughout the western United States compete in this national championship series event. Hydroplanes, super stock and other powerful racing craft churn up both water and exicetment on the river!
The Salmon Falls Dam, built in 1910 to provide water for irrigation to farms, creates a reservoir that provides an important source of recreation in this area. Anglers will find plenty of fish in these waters, including brown trout, chinook and kokanee salmon, yellow perch, black crappie, channel catfish, small mouth bass, and walleye. Day use and overnight facilities, including picnic tables and RV camp sites, are available at nearby Lud Drexler Park. Developed recreation sites along the reservoir can also be found at Greys Landing, Norton Bay and Whiskey Slough. Located 22 miles south of Twin Falls.
The Milner Historic Recreation Area is a 2055-acre tract adjacent to the Snake River, 9 miles west of Burley. Several recreation sites, developed and primitive, can be found along more than 4 miles of shoreline. The area features basalt cliffs surrounded by a sage grassland. This is a year-round haven for songbirds and waterfowl. Excellent fishing for bass, channel catfish, yellow perch and trout.
