Indian Hot Springs Hike

Trail Map | Elevation Profile

This site along the Bruneau River has hot springs and opportunities for camping, hiking, and fishing. This area is also the launch site for boating the Bruneau River, which has abundant Class III and IV rapids.

Please show respect for this area; it is partially located on private land.

Directions: Caution: Very rugged road access to this site.
Take Hwy 51 south to the town of Bruneau, turning left/east on Hot Springs Road (unmarked) at the One Stop Café. Reset trip odometer immediately.

Bridge unsuitable for vehicle traffic.
Hot springs located on the west bank of river left/south/upstream of bridge and are usually 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Tolerable temperatures are to be found at confluence of spring’s outflow and river.

Use only high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle for the final 1.5 miles. Vehicles heavily loaded or pulling trailers ill-advised. Can also be accessed from a rough road on the west via ATV or foot.

Navigating the Trail:
0.5 miles

  • From bridge, walk either side of river left/south to where Jarbidge River flows into Bruneau River.
  • 1.4 miles (more via cross-country)
  • Cross the bridge noting the location of the hot springs upstream/south.
  • Follow two-track north on the west bank of the river.
  • After 1.4 miles the trail dissipates and one could continue north across the plateau.
