Western Pipistrelle
This bat is very small and has yellowish gray brown fur, with a black face and ears. Pipistrelles love rocky desert areas, but like to live near water, so they love southern Idaho.

Western Pipistrelle
You can see them flying over calm water in the early evening, hunting for bugs. Pipistrelles love to eat mosquitoes, so if you see one, think about how it likes to eat those pesky biting bugs!
Pipistrelles like to live in crevices, mines, and buildings. They come out to hunt bugs in the early morning or evening, especially in canyon areas. Because they are often out feeding during these hours, you might be able to see them!

This Western Pipistrelle was caught and released during a bat study.
