Little Brown
Little brown bats live in many places throughout the U.S., and they have been found in over 20 counties in Idaho. They love to live in old, dead trees, called “snags,” and old buildings. But, they like to live near calm “slack” water, where they can hunt for their favorite meals: caddis flies, mayflies, midges, and mosquitoes.

Did you know?
Bats eat insects, so they benefit humans by getting rid of pesky bugs like mosquitoes and flies. Little Brown Bats can eat up to 1,200 night-flying insects in just one hour! If you see a bat, do not be afraid; they don’t attack humans! Bats are fun to watch, especially if they are darting across a lake at dusk, eating insects.
