Travel Management

The BLM is developing travel management plans (TMPs) for motorized routes in the Bear Lake County and Soda Hills areas.

Bear Lake 

The Bear Lake Travel Management Plan (TMP) is finalized and approved for BLM-managed public lands in Bear Lake County. BLM staff is in the process of assigning route numbers to the approved and designated routes and trails and will physically place signing routes on the ground. Soda Hills

The BLM initiated the Soda Hills travel management planning process in July 2011. During this process, the BLM mailed scoping letters to interested individuals, distributed information to local media and hosted an open house meeting to solicit written comments on the environmental assessment (EA). BLM reviewed these comments to help create the final EA and has issued a decision record for the travel plan. Referenced documents are below:

The BLM is not soliciting further public comments on the envionmental assessment or the decision record. The decision record was subject for a 30-day appeal for the period of May 1, 2012 through May 31, 2012. Curlew/Deep Creeks Travel Management Plan 

From June 1 - August 31, 2012, the BLM collected public comment and input related to the travel management plan (TMP) process in the Curlew/Deep Creeks area. This TMP will apply only to BLM-managed public lands in the Curlew/Deep Creeks area, which encompasses approximately 361,530 acres and runs west of I-15 to the Utah/Idaho Border. The BLM is in the preliminary stages of this TMP and anticipates a proposed decision will be available early in 2013. The proposed decision will incorporate comments received during this scoping period and outline various alternatives of actions. A final decision is expected to be released the summer of 2013.
