The Challis Field Office offers visitors unique and outstanding scenic, cultural and geologic resources - special places that allow visitors to step back in time to explore historical mine sites or discover spectacular vistas. From the deep canyons of the Upper Salmon River area, to the spectacular bird viewing at the Chilly Slough Wetland, to Malm Gulch’s fragile petrified forest, to the cultural heritage of the White Knob mining district and the Challis Bison Jump, to the scenic majesty of Idaho’s tallest peak: the Challis Field Office includes a variety of unique and scenic opportunities for visitors to explore.
