ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Many people made the work reported here possible and a pleasure. Pat Barker in the Nevada State Office of the Bureau of Land Management was not only the motor for the project, but laid out the road map too. The Far Western staff were a great pleasure to work with, as always: Amy Gilreath, Kelly McGuire, and Jay King are terrific colleagues. The Gnomon, Inc. personnel whose names do not appear on the report cover are the reason this project is possible at all. Countless hours of data automation, verification, and analysis were done by; Matt Richardson, Grahame Ross, Reese Tietje, Bonnie Brown, Chris Suwyn, Jesse Graham, Rori Vogler, Sally Rubio and Katie Mauldin. Jeff Secord proved that good bench players will win ballgames. Jennifer Mauldin somehow managed to make our manuscripts look good, despite us. BLM staff in Elko, Ely, Salt Lake City; the Nevada State Office, the Utah State Office, and the Idaho State Office were great supporters of a project that at times, must have seemed like a tall order. The State Historic Preservation Offices of Nevada, Utah, and Idaho made the study possible by sharing records in what may have been the largest multi-state analysis ever attempted. Our thanks and gratitude to all.
