Jackson Hotshots

The Southeastern States Field Office is home to the only BLM Hotshot Crew east of the Mississippi River. Since being formed in 1997, the Jackson Hotshots have fought disasterous wildland fires from Alaska to Florida. In addition, they were called upon to assist with National emergencies, including Ground Zero after 9/11/01 and search and recovery operations from the Space Shuttle Columbia. The Hotshots were also available for recovery efforts following several devastating hurricanes in the southeast over the last several years, including Katrina and Rita. In the off season, the Hotshots often assist with reducing hazardous fuels on select public lands and select Wildlife Refuges in the Southeast.
