Many weeds have pretty flowers but they
are a growing pain. They crowd out native plants, harm animal
habitats and increase erosion.
Extensions
Have students study additional invasive
problem species such as non-native plant and animal species in
Hawaii, zebra mussels in the Great Lakes and midwestern waterways,
and the brown tree snake in Guam.
