We spent all of yesterday fishing and picnicking at the San Miguel River. This morning, we drive for about an hour to reach the Alpine Loop, a network of roads that weaves through the 14,000-foot San Juan Mountains. This BLM back country byway takes us on a full-day, 50-mile drive through spectacular alpine scenery, ghost towns, and historic mining sites.
