Two more hours on the road and we arrive at the Dean Creek VIewing Area. Here we see a large herd of elk roaming freely in a mosaic of pastures, woodlands, and wetlands. The BLM manages about 25% of the land in Oregon; much of it provides outstanding wildlife habitat and viewing opportunities.
