
Heading south, we stop to spend some time at Yakima River Canyon. Winding
through 25 scenic miles of basalt cliffs and desert hills, the Yakima River is part of a
thriving sagebrush-steppe ecosystem that attracts a wide variety of wildlife. We are
awed by the birds of prey that soar above us as we enjoy some BLM-sponsored "catch
and release" trout fishing.
