A New Way to Understand
Changing Habitats

Welcome to the latest electronic field trip brought to you by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The live satellite broadcast was shown on March 4, 2004.

Sage-grouse are influenced by habitat change.
Our topic this year is habitat and ways in which scientists use technology to help them understand habitat change. Students "travel" to Nevada and New Mexico to join scientists as they examine factors contributing to changes in the habitat of the sage-grouse and the lesser prairie chicken.

We developed this website to introduce you to some basic concepts and to offer suggestions on how to correlate this program to your curriculum.

Our educator's guide includes specific learning objectives for the program, more background information on habitat and technology, a variety of classroom activities to pursue with your students, and correlations to National Science Education Standards.
