BLM Sponsoring Radio Features

BLM is working with Earth & Sky, an award winning daily science radio series heard by millions of listeners on over 950 commercial and public stations and their translators throughout the United States. It can also be heard in Canada, the South Pacific and on a variety of international networks, including Armed Forces Radio, World Radio Network and Voice of America.

Each day, Deborah Byrd and Joel Block discuss popular science subjects that affect our everyday lives. The "EarthCare" shows feature environmental topics such as air, animals, biology, climate, fire, water, and weather. The scripts are produced in 90-second segments with information

Earth & Sky is produced by EarthTalk Inc. of Austin, Texas. Earth & Sky was created in 1991 by the show's producer/host team, Deborah Byrd and Joel Block. In addition to BLM, supporters of the programs include the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the U.S. Forest Service. Earth & Sky has a review committee of over 100 scientists, including Dr. Derek Wills, a professional astronomer at the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. Each script is sent to several reviewers who help ensure the scientific accuracy before it is recorded to tape.
