FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sept. 12, 2006

The public is invited to attend a meeting of the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Advisory Committee to be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, September 28 and 29, and October 10, 2006, at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores, Colorado. BLM staff will offer an update on the Monument Resource Management Plan effort and present draft alternatives. Also on the agenda will be the election of new officers and the discussion of other issues.

Time will be set aside at about 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day to allow interested persons to make oral statements or submit written statements. Time limits for oral statements may be necessary to make sure all those interested have an opportunity to speak. At the end of the meeting, members will discuss next meeting’s agenda.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to advise the Secretary of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management on development and implementation of a resource management plan for the Monument.
