CANYONS OF THE ANCIENTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO MEET

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 20, 2005

The Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores, Colorado. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Secretary of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on development and implementation of a resource management plan for the Monument. The meeting is open to the public.

At this meeting, BLM staff will offer an update of the Monument planning process. Also on the agenda will be discussion of projected oil, natural gas, and carbon dioxide exploration and development on the Monument over the next 20 years; and other issues, as appropriate.

Time will be set aside at about 10:30 a.m. to allow interested persons to make oral statements or submit written statements. Time limits for oral statements may be necessary to make sure all those interested have an opportunity to speak. At the end of the meeting, members will discuss the agenda for next meeting.
