Canyons of the Ancients National Monument
Advisory Committee to Meet

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 1, 2004

The Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Advisory Committee will hold a meeting at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2004. The meeting will be open to the public. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Secretary of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management on development and implementation of a resource management plan for the Monument.

The agenda includes an update of the Monument planning process, and a discussion of planning issues and management concerns, planning alternatives, and other issues. At the end of the meetings, members will discuss the agenda for next meeting.

Time will be set aside at about 3 p.m. for interested members of the general public to make oral statements or submit written statements. Time limits for oral statements may be necessary to make sure all those interested have an opportunity to speak.
