 Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Advisory Committee to Hold First Meeting

The Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at 9 a.m. at the Anasazi Heritage Center in Dolores, Colorado. The meeting is open to the public. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Secretary of the Interior and the BLM on the development and implementation of a resource management plan for the Monument.

The 11 new committee members will be introduced, and the BLM will offer an overview and update of the Monument planning process. Also on the agenda is discussion of the planning schedule and budget. A working lunch will take place at Lowry Pueblo in the Monument.

Time is set aside at about 3:30 p.m. for interested persons to make oral statements or submit written statements. Time limits for oral statements may be necessary to make sure all those interested have an opportunity to speak. At the end of the meeting, members will discuss the agenda for next meeting.
